The site commands unobstructed southern views of Aspen’s four mountains and the valley below. With the long axis facing the views, the design was conceived as a layered composition of architectural walls to guide movement, create outdoor living spaces and reveal unexpected discoveries. To articulate the design concept, a primary exterior material palette was selected to include board formed concrete, blackened steel, glass and Swiss Pearl resin-based exterior cladding.
Inside, black smoked oak floors and ceilings, espresso stained custom millwork in African Wenge and linear steel panels contrast warmly against the concrete. The sculptural quality of the architecture is further expressed in the home’s three unique fireplaces. As a centerpiece separating the kitchen from the great room, a two-sided, see thru fireplace summarizes not only the material palate of the home but continuity of its design spirit as well.
