The reconstruction project of the Mykolas Žilinskas Art Gallery building, which we are carrying out together with E. Miliūnas studija” architects, is taking on clearer contours, as the sketch design proposals have been drawn up, revealing the appearance of the future gallery.
Last Friday, the director of the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, the head of the Kaunas division and the specialists of the Council for the Evaluation of the Real Cultural Heritage were presented with the design solutions for the art gallery building and the discussion was held on the adjustment of the building’s valuable characteristics.
It is hoped that close cooperation between the designers and the cultural heritage specialists will not only help to preserve the cultural heritage, but also to bring it into line with contemporary requirements, in order to increase the accessibility of the gallery to all groups of society, to optimally use the building’s spaces and to ensure convenient functionality for the planned art activities.
The newly designed spaces will be distinguished by modern solutions and subtle design elements that will blend harmoniously with the historical context of the gallery. Our aim is to create a place where art is accessible to every visitor, and where the renovated spaces will inspire both new and long-term art lovers. Every detail and element chosen reflects our commitment to preserving and renewing our cultural heritage for the modern world.
