COTA760 Arquitetura transformed a 130-square-meter apartment in Pinheiros, São Paulo, into a contemporary and functional home that reflects the resident’s emotional connection to the Amazon.
Letícia’s childhood memories of Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, shaped the design from the beginning. A palette of green, terracotta, and natural leather brings the atmosphere of the forest indoors. Organic forms, modern elements, and pieces that reference Amazonian fauna and culture create a space that is both personal and expressive.
To create a more fluid layout, the original floor plan was completely reconfigured. Internal walls were removed to open up the apartment and connect the spaces. Custom cabinetry was designed to serve multiple purposes, organizing both social and private areas while adding visual coherence. A terracotta-finished kitchen island with curved lines anchors the living space and encourages interaction.
Furniture pieces were selected to reflect the resident’s affective memories. Highlights include a circular armchair from Carbono, the Bold sofa with rounded lines, and the Lottus dining table by Fernando Jaeger. These elements reinforce the organic language of the project.
In the bedrooms, the décor was customized with works by local artists and objects inspired by Amazonian fauna, including embroidered pieces referencing the pirarucu fish, the pink river dolphin, and even the iconic Copan building.
Colors were applied in bold blocks, creating a sensory rhythm throughout the apartment. Terracotta surfaces define the kitchen area, while the green sofa adds a fresh touch to the living room. Materials like granite, Goiaba-toned formica, cumaru wood, and IBAMA-certified leather bring a handcrafted and natural feel to the interiors.
The perimeter balcony was preserved, offering an outdoor extension of the living space and a leisure area for the resident’s pets. Every detail was carefully designed to tell a story that blends personal heritage with the pace of contemporary life in São Paulo.
