RIBAJ: "The school is exemplary in creating the distinctive and joyful environment that a dedicated architect can bring to a new generation of schools."
This project consists of the Ravenor Primary School expansion.
The project design includes a 1FE expansion to a 2FE Primary School, that the firm completed in 2004.
Developed on a restricted site, our two-story design includes an early years hub, small hall, and a multi-function dining space on the ground floor; and KS2 classrooms, staffroom, and a multi-function space on the first floor linked with a covered, free-standing canopy to the existing school.
Set within a strong geometry and articulated with the glulam columns, the external walls are clad with eternit and steni panels with expressed and stained western red cedar battens fixed to SIP wall panels. The design plays on open views into and through linked spaces with expansive areas of glass bringing light and ventilation into the building.
The firm also provided the interior design, furniture scheduling, and landscape consultancy services.
