Young hermits hide in the mountains, but the mature hermit lives downtown. Is it possible to mix water town’s environment and urban life together? Is it possible to mix eastern Artistic conception of the space and the western sensory experience together? At the beginning, this seemed to be an impossible mission.
Designers’ study found that although the culture and aesthetic sense are distinctive in the east and west, and the buildings have their own unique styles, the ultimate users of the space are people. Therefore, the basic feelings and demands of space should be the same. There should be the same gene hides in the different designs and we name it a ‘cordial scale gene’. Based on this reasoning, the design team carried out a rational mix and match design creatively.
The basic layout of water towns is to connect street with bridges and use water for transportation. Mediterranean architecture has rich spatial changes and people there have social life on the shared small squares. Mixing the advantages innovatively with the ‘cordial scale gene’ together finally creates a harmonious and varied space. The collision between the cultural and architectural elements forms a dramatic contrast effect. The vision of our Creative Garden is to provide a spatial platform for the creative ideas spatially, physically and mentally.
Lakeside, villages, spiritual environment,real-life happiness…we are living in the mixed era. What is the next possibility?
