Atelier A | Rainyrain2go: A “Convenient and Cozy” Coffee Shop
Atelier A's latest creation is Rainyrain2go, a spin-off brand from Tongxiang-based Rainyrain Coffee. From highway service stations to neighborhood corners, its grab-and-go model and warm, healing design redefine the coffee shop experience.
Unlike the leisurely model of traditional coffee shops, Rainyrain2go integrates coffee service into the fast pace of modern life. Locations will be strategically placed at highway service stations and residential communities. This allows coffee to refresh weary travelers on long drives and provide quick energy boosts for neighbors and passersby.
Atelier A designed Rainyrain2go with Rainyrain's signature blue as the primary color scheme, retaining the original brand's key decorative materials. Vintage wood elements combined with functional stainless steel create a warm, neighborly atmosphere.
Dismantlable and movable furniture
Atelier A has embedded “adjustable, reusable, adaptable” into every detail, enabling Rainyrain2go to seamlessly integrate into diverse scenarios while accommodating future business operational changes.
Considering future adjustments to store locations and changes in scale, all furniture at Rainyrain2go follows a modular design. Every piece can be quickly disassembled and reused, reducing renovation costs and time. The furniture adheres to a unified design logic, allowing for flexible reconfiguration to easily adapt to future expansions or relocations.
The service counter is assembled from several independent furniture pieces, abandoning the traditional monolithic counter design. This approach not only reduces the renovation costs associated with fixed counters but also conveys a home-like warmth in its aesthetic. The core furniture of the store consists of two independent structures: a cabinet unit and a countertop. These can be reconfigured at any time to adapt to operational needs.
Cabinet: Features an independent structural design. The cabinet door can be converted into an open structure, and the built-in trash bin enables concealed storage. Additional shelves can be added inside the cabinet to transform it into a storage unit for materials and tableware, maximizing space utilization.
Countertop: Separate from the base cabinet, available in three styles: “prep station,” “serving counter,” and “cashier + display.”
“Flat stainless steel countertop” serves as the back-of-house workstation, offering ample food preparation space with a clean, stain-resistant surface for easy cleaning.
“Stainless steel countertop with recessed groove” functions as the serving station, featuring a clearly defined lowered surface for convenient customer food pickup.
“Wooden countertop” paired with glass mirror panels creates a cashier display cabinet, combining payment functionality with the ability to showcase brand merchandise to customers.
Wall partitions are also custom-made, consisting of two side brackets and a panel. The bracket spacing is freely adjustable to accommodate different spatial requirements. The kitchen area uses stainless steel partitions for displaying tableware. The customer area employs wooden partitions to meet customers' needs for temporary seating. Both types of partitions can be combined as needed, offering flexibility and environmental sustainability.
Detailed Design
The triangular canopy above the storefront features blue-and-white striped fabric as its main element, with a slight angle reminiscent of street awnings. The illuminated metal logo paired with white printed lettering on the fabric evokes the fleeting moment when raindrops fall and scatter in the wind.
The canopy structure can be easily adjusted and replicated in another store of any size, simply by modifying the curtains and frames.
The stainless steel double-sink basin is durable and easy to clean. Its dual-faucet design simultaneously accommodates dishwashing and water collection needs. Additionally, the sink unit is removable for reuse, eliminating redundant investments.
Wall surface
Due to the tight renovation schedule at the highway service station, Atelier A refrained from making complex alterations to the floor or ceiling, opting instead to install blue wall tiles. Positioned just above counter height, these tiles prevent wall staining while echoing the blue eaves overhead, reinforcing the brand's color identity.
