The Rainbow Bridge Project rests on the idea to create colors instead of white lighting illuminating the footpath of this public pedestrian bridge over the motorway A40 in Dortmund connects the University of Dortmund with the 'DASA', Germany’s largest exhibition on the world of work, its past, present and future.
The projects starts 1987 as a today called 'Guerilla Lighting' action without permission of the authorities in a night and fog action without any benefit to me as the inventor and idea encoder.
The original bridge from 1987 was teared down in 2008 to replace it to a larger bridge version for now 6 lanes spanning over the Autobahn. The City of Dortmund has held the idea of an entrance gate to the city and equipped the new bridge with LED lighting sources. The new special effect while driving through the bridge is now a Moiré movement effect caused of the railing pinhole sheets installed.
