Co+in Collaborative Lab has reshaped a 27sqm apartment in the city of Jakarta, Indonesia, transforming two small rooms into a compact open plan studio.

The Client put a requirement to make the most of the limited floor space by knocking down the wall and elevate the bed to the corner of the room, before commencing us.

Squeezed into the apartment are a foyer, full-size kitchen, a living-dining-guest area, wardrobe, storage room, and a queen-sized bed.

The design approached is to declutter the space with a chosen muted neutral palette material of white, grey, and wood, to evokes tranquility.

The space is equipped with a smart home system, combine with multifunctional storage cabinetry are doubled as stair for access to the bed area, the sofa is transformable as an extra bed, while the dining table is detachable from the TV cabinetry, allowing space-saving configuration.

The apartment is concentrated towards a fabricated elevated bed platform that consists of a wardrobe, stairs, big storage access underneath, with an open display cabinet that semi-concealed the bed area, crafting a mini gallery experience, which creates a boundary between the private and public area for the guest inside this micro-apartment.

The materials such as Horizontal wood grain on the bed platform helps to layer the minimalist space, the vertical grain and millwork details maximize the depth, while acid glass is used to hide bulky daily use items in the kitchen and electronics in the living area.
