Developed with Eric Barker as head designer and Xavier Crespo as project architect.
This proposal, just off the corner of Hillside and Quadra, is currently wending its way through the City of Victoria rezoning system. It involves building 34 strata units that are one level and stacked on top of each other or above two car garage modules. They are accessed via exterior stairs and corridors without an elevator. They are sized between 400 and 500 ft.²to be affordable and, given the urban location close to public transportation and shopping are aimed at younger or empty nesters households not as dependent on cars.
This proposal is part of the renovation of an existing rental project on the same property which has large units that are single level stacked 2 levels high with large decks and patios. The principal access is through the strata site exiting the property with a one way Woonerf running through the center of the rental units.
A Woonerf is aEuropean term describing a street whose primary function is to serve thepedestrian not the vehicle
