The Goktekin Q1, iF Design Award 2025 winner project presents the interior design of a sample apartment within a branded residential complex in Adana, a city in the Mediterranean region of southern Turkey. Designed by Gonye Design, the concept draws inspiration from the region's unique geographical and cultural identity while embracing a refined, modern aesthetic.
Spanning 370 square meters, the apartment features a 5.5+1 layout, offering flexibility and spaciousness. A defining element of the design is its balance between contemporary elegance and regional influences. The entrance includes a pocket area designed for privacy and airflow control, responding to the city's hot climate. Upon entry, storage areas are discreetly integrated behind hidden doors, enhancing functionality while maintaining a seamless aesthetic.
The design concept is rooted in the textures and natural formations of Adana’s historic masonry bridges and the Taurus Mountains. Textured marble surfaces contrast with sleek modern materials, creating a refined yet grounded atmosphere. Unlike the ornate interiors commonly found in the region, Goktekin Q1 takes a minimalist approach, prioritizing durability and timelessness over opulence.
The kitchen is fully functional, with a carefully curated material palette that enhances both usability and sophistication. A wooden arch frames the Poliform kitchen modules, integrating lighting elements and precise detailing. The en-suite bathroom maintains visual harmony with the master bedroom, featuring an extended vanity, integrated storage, and a seamless combination of warm wood and reflective surfaces.
Throughout the apartment, craftsmanship is elevated through the use of advanced production techniques, such as radiused gypsum ceilings and custom millwork, setting a new benchmark for quality in the region. In the study and living areas, curated material contrasts—stone, leather, and wood—add depth and refinement, while strategically placed decorative elements create focal points within the space.
Goktekin Q1 stands out in the Adana context by redefining luxury through quality and innovation. By incorporating advanced design techniques and fostering local craftsmanship, the project challenges conventional notions of extravagance, offering a sophisticated, enduring living environment.
