When rebuilding the façade of an urban icon, the approach we chose is to save the icon and construct an envelope that encloses it while bringing it into this and the next century.
Conceptually the idea is to bring the park to the theater and unite the two, not only with landscaping but also with a light glazed structure that utilizes the Dupont SentryGlas System. In doing so the steps and platform in front of the theater will acquire a new semi-protected hall for events as well as daily use of the building and park.
Using the light structure and glazing, movie posters and events can be posted for everyone to see and the ceremonial approach to the theater is extended for the length of the park, with the structures increasing in size as one gets closer to the building.
At nighttime the SentryGlas System will be lit using RGB-LED lights to intermittently change colors and announce the importance of the Pushkinsky Cinema.
