CONCEPTION
The Screen.
Pushkinsky
cinema has been consideredthe ”number onescreenof Russia”hosting international Moscow
Film Festival. As such it was originally designed by architect
Sheverdyaev.Nowadays this ideais forgotten, the cinema house is coveredby
plastic casino and restaurantfacades which separate the cinema from the city.
My idea is
to re-establish the Screen numberOne and to connect it to the surroundings.
Main façade of the cinema becomes the Screen. A ray is going through the Screen
becomes a ramp between the cinema main entry and Pushkin square. Thiswill
create social well organised area in the centre of the city and revive the
venue of Moscow International Film Festival.
If you
dream to be at the heart of cinematographic events you need toreach the Screen.
Walk on the Ray and then enter the Screen. Welcome to the cinema world!
DETAILS
The number
OneScreen of the country is a multimediafaçade broadcastingtrailers of the best
movies at the night time. The existingroof canopy is used as a profile for
allparts of the new Screen frame. Lower partof the frame is made ofperforated
CorianDupont so the groundlevel of the building is providedwith natural light.
The same perforatedCorian panels are placed on both side facades to provide
daylight into the main foyer of the cinema.
The Ray
ramp is based on animaginary ray projectionfrom the midpoint of the real screen
in the cinema hallgoing towards the Pushkin square. The
Ray transforms the outside reality into film reality for people entering
thecinema and makes the surroundings part of it.
