Situated on Bali's eastern coast, Kedungu Beach boasts a land size of 9371m2 and stands as a sister project to Bali Beach Glamping - the Ciputra Beach Club. This venture is dedicated to introducing fresh and exclusive enjoyment, establishing a new destination for glampers, visitors, and the local community. The Ciputra Beach Club challenges the conventional resort typology by forgoing the typical notion of exclusivity, instead re-engaging with the environment and focusing on adaptability for future developments. With Indonesian and Balinese culture at its core, the project accentuates traditional architectonic philosophies, translating them paradoxically into a contemporary style.
At the heart of the beach club's design lies the weaving fabric walls, carefully curated into distinct elements that encompass the area. More importantly, they present an opportunity for future expansion in the second phase of planning. The towering walls guide visitors seamlessly through an experiential journey, unfolding in a sequence of tight-loose spaces. This journey commences at the welcoming entrance and flows through commercial venues, a central restaurant, spill-out seating, DJ and day beds, a pool bar, tree house cabanas, culminating in an amphitheater and beach beds. Walking along the curvature of the walls, the vastness & open beach club are genuinely captured by the framing element implemented on the walls that embrace the atmosphere & vibrant focal points. This architectural approach offers a peaceful moment of fresh new experience, where the architecture enables new ways of perceiving the landscape.
Simultaneously, the walls play a significant role as core structural and interior elements, gradually converging into stairs, a bar display, seating, and a central restaurant sitting at the top. The project embodies the "Adat" philosophy, symbolizing traditional culture, and translates it into local materials such as locally sourced stones, reclaimed wood, plaster walls, and traditional fabric patterns. These local materials are further enhanced using modern parametric algorithms, resulting in unique forms and shapes, representing a juxtaposition of vernacular and modern elements. Additionally, the design embraces the value of "wabisabi" - finding beauty in imperfections, simplicity, and natural materials. This encourages a mindful appreciation of the present moment and an acceptance of the natural cycle of life.
