Purmontes Private Luxury Chalet – A Contemporary Reinterpretation of Rural Heritage
The Purmontes Private Luxury Chalet arose in the immediate vicinity of Hotel Lanerhof as a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional farmstead and as a continuation of the region’s rural heritage. Its privileged location defines the spirit of the place: unobstructed views across the valley, absolute tranquility, and a landscape that conveys both expansiveness and intimacy. These inherent qualities have not only been preserved but elevated through precise architectural intervention.
The new farmstead is conceived as an ensemble that brings nature, people, and animals into harmony. At its core stand well-being and contentment—guiding principles translated into spatial and material qualities. Its integration into the cultural landscape follows a sensitive process: sightlines, topographic contours, cardinal orientations, and the functional relationships between residence, agricultural building, and guest facilities were carefully studied and incorporated into the design. The result is an architecture that does not impose itself but becomes a natural, almost self-evident part of its setting.
In its design language, the project bridges the continuity of local building tradition with contemporary forms of expression. The archetypal Paarhof—the dual arrangement of farmhouse and barn—is reinterpreted without losing its essential character. Natural, biologically sustainable materials, particularly wood and stone, define the buildings’ appearance and imbue them with tactile and atmospheric depth. Structural clarity and artisanal precision shape spaces that are durable, functional, and endowed with a timeless beauty.
