The brief was to design a classically contemporary five-star hotel on this prominent site in O'Riordan Street. The development acts as a strong visual marker to the precinct.
The scheme provides a 12-storey hotel with 299 rooms that include eight suites. The entry is located to the north, with a dramatic porte cochere that faces towards three mature Morton Bay Figs.
The two-storey podium houses reception, bar, restaurant, and back-of-house facilities on the ground level with conference and executive lounge on the second floor. Gym facilities are located on the roof of the podium looking out onto an elegant roof garden.
The design strategy has created a luxury hotel offering unique to this rapidly changing part of Sydney. The refined architectural palette reflects its use and sets a new standard for the precinct.
The hotel opened in June 2016 and will be popular with international and domestic travellers due to its prime location just 600 metres from Sydney’s domestic airport and 3 kilometres from the international airport.
The hotel is the first internationally branded five-star new-build hotel to service the airport and is part of the WMK-designed Connect Corporate Centre for Goodman that will incorporate 34,000 square metres of retail and office spaces close to Mascot, Sydney’s airports, and the CBD.
