As information becomes more readily available through digital devices, we see the Central Library's role as a space for human connection and interaction. An urban hybrid bringing together flexible co-working, cultural activities, community programs, leisure spaces in addition to traditional collections and educational programs.
Our design proposes an open, easy-to-navigate environment with various scales and privacy levels to foster the congregation and mixing of people from different age groups, backgrounds, education, etc. From small pods accomodating one user to large double-height reading rooms, from interior to outdoor spaces, from open to enclosed.
Our vision for the Central Library is rooted in six related issues:
1. A commitment to openness, user-friendliness, and accessibility
2. A highly adaptable space
3. The Central Library's significance as an institutional symbol of public space
4. A true-to-place attitude to the context
5. The tight integration of the building with nature
6. A vigorous environmental plan
