Yoga is a physical, spiritual and mental discipline that aims to transform body and mind. ProYoga Academy has been conceived as an architectonic structure to promote the sustainable practice of this singular discipline.
Artificial lighting plays a crucial role here: from the entrance hall to the practice room, all light sources were carefully designed to enhance a sense of serenity and introspection. Energy efficiency is quietly revealed - step by step - inside ProYoga Academy:
Step 1: A suspended light box structure welcomes visitors into the entrance hall; its indirect light warms up the transition between interior and exterior.
Step 2: A discrete spotlight reveals a small wooden counter carved inside a monolithic white block; its direct light marks the place where all questions can be answered…
Step 3: Six hanging lamps in natural brass punctuate the corridor serving as orientation lighting; its light frosted bulb represents the guiding point to access changing rooms, toilet and practice room. An seventh hanging lamp illuminates a support ceramic counter with a small dishwasher sink.
Step 4: Two square-shaped openings on the changing rooms wall function as a warning sign for occupied; once inside, a fluorescent lamp placed above the door illuminates the changing room while its indirect light reflects through the corridor ceiling.
Step 5: The light inside the practice room was carefully developed to obtain minimum shadow effect. LED light strips where placed inside a double wall system: three linear lightning parts use walls and ceiling as reflective surfaces for the indirect light. A three colour light combination – yellow, blue and purple – supports the pursuit for a clear state of mind and physical relaxation.
Sustainability can be the key to enlightenment…and also to lightning solutions.
