@ket.bureau takes the historical-associative method as the basic idea for design the concept of the new metro station. Our main design principles of that project are preserving the historically important layers of the city's tissue development, recreating the spirit, atmosphere and genetic memory of a place, preserving the cultural component of the city.
The important thing is not what we see directly, and not even how it is done, but the connection of the object with a wide field of historical and cultural meanings. "Images of memory" are the basis of architectural creativity. There can be no complete architecture without memory images.
The facade of the metro station becomes an “eyewitness” to the history of the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki district and translates the dynamics of changes in the typologies of housing facades from 1954 to the present day. From denser facades of "five-story buildings", where the mass of walls dominates the windows, to lighter modern types of housing, where glass dominates the mass of walls. The vector of passenger movement is directed towards the lighter part of the station, which symbolizes a bright and better future.
Thus, the exterior and interior of the metro has a "museum character", metaphorically displaying the history of the place on the facade of the metro station. The interior will “tell” metro users interesting facts and stories of the place.
