As digital banking footprint expands in Nigeria, the demand for edgy, tech-driven, laissez-faire office spaces has also grown. StanbicIBTC Bank, a financial service holding company in Nigeria with subsidiaries in Banking, Stock Brokerage, Investment Advisory, Asset Management, Investor Services, Pension Management, Trustees and life Insurance businesses was also desirous of creating an iconic building that carried its *909# USSD banking code as insignia.
Our response, in the words of Isiaq Nassam, Senior Architect, ATO Architects was to “create a diagrid-inspired facade with solids and voids, in such a way that 909 is abstracted as voids in the aluco-bond panels”. The diagrid – inspired facade also serves as a sustainable way of shading the building’s windows from the heat of the sun. The interiors are finished in incubator hub style using a mixture of classical “sit-up furniture” and more informal “breakout seats”.
