LR House is located in Xalapa, Veracruz in a neighborhood surrounded by vegetation. From the beginning of the project, BCA's main goal was to express the youth and energy of the owners without losing the sense of a homely and cozy atmosphere. The leading concepts were identity, unity, personality and bonding. The selection and use of materials was fundamental to achieve different atmospheres, considering everything as a whole.
The project is composed of three main areas; a social section that features a link to the garden, a dedicated service area and aprivate section. Part of the challenge was to work on an existing structure in order to improve the original distribution and spatial qualities.
When entering to the house, the visitor experiences the house split into two main bodies, linked by a black stair and a lit-up onyx bridge framing and liking the rest of the floor plates. On the side, the kitchen and dining room are revealed on a white background, elegantly emphasized by a black slate wall and a black granite countertop.
On the first floor, we find the private area; where a bedroom for visits, for children and for the young couple takes place. The rooms implemented different design strategies to generate the desired effects, such as the use of mirrors to create the perception of a bigger space, applying onyx to a section of a wall to create the effect of a window during the day, and of a lighting fixture at night. A black tile takes over the main bedroom which dialogues with a wooden floor in the Jacuzzi area.
On the ground level, the social area takes place where the garden plays a main role. All the spaces are connected to the garden; a wooden floor merges the interior with the exterior, using the bar with an onyx countertop as a focal point.
BCA fills the house with personality and youth with the different scenarios achieved with the material selection and lighting effects.
