The Prism Tower, a workspace designed for J.K Cement in Gurugram, consciously breaks away from the traditional seriousness associated with office spaces. It introduces a sense of comfort, geometry, and colour while blending neoclassical and modern architectural styles.
The 7,580 sq. ft. luxurious office space spans two floors and stands out for its innovative approach to spatial design. Unlike conventional offices, Prism Tower emphasizes open workstations and varied seating arrangements within the same rooms. This design fosters collaboration while maintaining a sense of privacy, ease, and division of work, ultimately enhancing the overall work environment.
The client brief called for a workspace that adapts to changing needs and accommodates the functional requirements of diverse teams. Prism Tower achieves this by creating flexible spaces with adaptable furniture, ensuring maximum space utilization, affordability, and long-term functionality. It caters to potential future changes while remaining accessible and appealing to multiple generations. The spatial planning of Prism Tower reinforces cooperative work ethics. The office is divided into various zones — workstations, meeting rooms, designated cabins, management rooms, a reception, and a cafeteria. Each space has its own unique theme, yet all are seamlessly tied to the central design concept.
The design inspiration of modernity is evident in the geometry, clean lines, wall panelling, cove ceilings, and lighting, while the use of wood brings a vintage charm to the space and adds balance. The material palette, dominated by warm colours as per the client’s brief, harmonizes with the wood finishes throughout the design. Lighting is carefully integrated to maintain optimal lux levels, boosting productivity across all rooms.
The reception area sets the tone with its blue-themed monochromatic design. The panelled walls, classic blue reception table, and sofa create a striking yet cohesive visual impact. This theme resonates with the exterior views from the cabins during dusk, adding an intriguing aesthetic that changes with natural light.
The conference room features a striking contrast of fresh grey and tan veneer as the backdrop for the conference table. Its most iconic feature is an open display rack with cove lighting that showcases an array of emotive clay faces, symbolizing the exchange of ideas and emotions within the space. The senior cabins exude the sophistication of home offices, with ample display areas for personalization. Two large management cabins follow distinct colour themes while incorporating similar design elements like panelling, leather furniture, exotic carpets, and artwork from the client’s collection. One of the cabins reflects a neo-classical style with warm brown tones, dark floor tiles, and traditional furniture. In contrast, the other adopts a contemporary style with beige tones, light floor tiles, and modern furniture.
The open workstations are equipped with modular desks set against white-panelled walls, embodying the modern ethos of efficiency and collaboration. These malleable seating options not only enhance functionality but also optimize spatial planning. The cafeteria is perhaps the most vibrant part of the office. It transforms a mundane lunchroom into an immersive experience through zig-zag lighting, wooden furniture, and pop-up colours. The multicoloured accent wall with hexagonal tiles adds a playful element to the otherwise subdued palette, making it an exciting break-out space for both clients and employees.
Prism Tower demonstrates how the relationship between modern and classical architecture can redefine office spaces. This dynamic interplay of materials, colours, and finishes breathes life into the workspace while creating visually captivating photographic moments. By accommodating diverse needs and encouraging collaboration, Prism Tower promotes better work ethics and interpersonal connections. It showcases how intentional design can reimagine office environments, offering endless possibilities and creating a unique experience where every corner has something to discover.
