When designing an exhibition stand, we relied on a concept that came in with an approach different to that the company preferred so far. The exposition didn’t have to overdue the visitor by the excessive number of samples of tiles of various colours, shapes and sizes. In contrast, we tried to emphasize some few innovations that are presented straight in the interior of the pavilion as a "pixelized" floor. Paraphrased was here a famous watchword "less is more" as "(to display) less is more".
The exhibition stand is designed with a view on the main visiting pathways, which correspond to the entries in the exposition stand interiors. The mass opens smoothly and closes with the full or empty segments that visually enlighten the body and enable visual contact with the neighbourhood. One corner of the construction lifts up at the main communication path, and reveals a partial view on the showpieces - pavements in the interior. Such dramatically shaped freeform serves as a banner, which invites visitors to enter. As a model, here served the traditional industrial building. With this concept there grew up „a portable concrete plant" with the dimensions of 14 x 10m, completed with a tower reaching 7.5 m height, as a catcher in the fair.
The exposition materia is made of spatial steel structure, which is composed of linear square tube elements of 80 x 40 x 2mm in cross section that join together under precisely defined 3D angles. The steel structure is divided in several pre-welded and detached parts, which allow comfort at transport and assembly by their dimensions. These components consist of two opponent frames of various sizes, which are spatially linked by square tubes. After the precise boarding of pole parts in the floor grid, the structure is equipped with connecting square tube elements that put the finishing touches for required continuously smooth shape design.
Because of unwanted structural damage during the transport, the originally intended comaxit finish was replaced by white glossy coating that is easily refreshable. The listels were drilled on the structure, which are fixing the segments of semi-transparent textile fabric. There was originally considered the Barrisol foil for filling, but due to the time and technical reasons, we used the Clipso fabric at the end. The 70% transparency was chosen that allows a nice backlighting and highlighting the white areas. Double wall fabric is variously expanding and narrowing, creating cavities in such way. There are inserted white fluorescent lamps into these spatias. Location of each tube was carefully selected and tested so that it avoids sharp light-written lines on the shell.
Given the prohibition of anchoring the structures directly in the floor of the exhibition hall, the basement grid was designed of 40 x 40 x 3mm square tubes, in which individual components are fixed. Cantilevered construction of roof parts is at its upper end drawn together by the trailing square tube element. At the contact of the structure with floor of the hall it is fixed with the steel basement grid, which is additionally loaded by itself exhibits - the concrete pavements. The structure is designed to be quick and easy mountable. The design allows for prompt assembly or disassembly, and thus multiple events installation. The space is also filled with greenery. Grasses grow on the foil inserted directly into the stand‘s pavement and bamboo in pots of company‘s own production create a pleasant environment for meetings and negotiating.
