“Like the summer fireflies on the moor”

On the 13th and 14th of July 2013, Matthew "Rudy" Rudofker, chef at Momofuku Ssäm Bar in New York, arrived in Faenza to enliven the last Postrivoro before the summer break.
The firm Bartoletti & Cicognani with architect Andrea Montesi took care of the outfitting of the Angels Hall (“Sala degli Angeli”) in the Cloister of the Commenda, which from the beginning has hosted the appearances by the Postrivoro.
The warm weather exhort to stay outside and enjoy the cool breeze of the night; how to make pleasing for the guests, then, the long stay in the room?
"Like the summer fireflies on the moor" draws from the intuition to create a direct relation with nature, recreating inside four walls a specific idea of garden.
A black false ceiling shields the vault, compressing the space, and from the numerous cuts that go through, beams of light enlighten the dishes, enhancing them as they were showpieces.
At the centre of the table, a composition of oat grass alive with fireflies (“Firefly” ALVALINE lamps, by Viabizzuno) creates a filter between the diners, stimulating curiosity and sharing. The back wall, destined for the speeches, is enliven by a “scales” texture, with slight color variations in shades of grey.
The atmosphere varies with the lightening, becoming suffused throughout the preparation of the coffee by Nik Orosi, elected in 2013 for the fourth time best barman in Croatia.
The wine tasting organized by Andrea Spada carries on after dinner, in the garden, where the enchanting setting of the Cloister of the Commenda refreshes the long, warm summer night.
