PossRespecting the agricultural use of the site, the structure responds by using the vernacular of the modern barn. Nestled into 15 acres of farmland the placement of the structure finds itself in a low sandy area at the edge of the productive soils. To the south and west there is a small stand of ash and oak trees, creating an open area to use as gallery space. The barn and loft provide a large column free area for the family to gather and pursue their creative desires. The structure facing directly south opens up to the sun allowing its natural light to bath the interior space. The loft known as “The Nest” lifts a habitable space off the ground to offer views to the surrounding landscape and to rattlesnake bluff.
