Portobello House

This project involved the complete renovation of Victorian house and the construction of a two storey extension to the rear. The original house contained two bedrooms with an outdoor toilet and clapboard kitchen to the rear. We re-worked the plan carefully to optimise the space to incorporate two double bedrooms in the existing part and a family bathroom ,and a master bedroom with an ensuite in the extension at first floor. The ground floor was transformed from a dark and constricted series of small rooms into a lightfilled extended kitchen dining room with a separate sitting room and study. Although the house was stripped back to the walls and re-built in a modern design, key period pieces were retained. The house also is highly insulated and uses solar panels with a condensing gas boiler.FEATURED IN LIVINGETC MAGAZINEandHOUSE AND HOME MAGAZINEandDECORATE & IMPROVE MAGAZINE
