Eleftherias Square
• is the first important public place that visitors who arrive by boat in Thessaloniki meet at the coastal entrance
• can be one of the points of interest for those entering the city by road.
• is worth looking for one of the pieces of the recent historical memory of the city that is lost there.
• Main concept is a portal and especially a digital portal that will start from a physical space such as a pavilion, which will be placed in a redesigned public space
• The digital portal and the redesigned square will trigger the revival of elements of memory from different eras. It will unleash elements of the past that will compose a memory landscape through an online augmented reality application for mobile devices.
• This will be achieved through the recompositing of the facades of specific buildings in front of the square through references, such as the big fire of Thessaloniki, the persecution of Jews, life at sea, waves, and fishermen's sails.
• The redesign of facades was done by creating images through the Artificial Intelligence platform Stubble Diffusion and as a result the design exaggeration was sought and not moderation, as an element of a manifesto, as an element of exaggeration.
• The aim is the narration of the most important events, the awakening of collective memory and the restatement of historical memory. Ultimately transforming the place into a virtual gateway to the city, the sea and memory itself.
