Porchester Road

STATUS
Built
YEAR
2014
The Porchester Road project consisted 4 new luxury style apartments located on top of the UK’s second reinforced concrete building which is located in Paddington, London.

The proposed residential design replaced the existing 4th floor with a new 4th floor & 5th floor with rooftop gardens. The 4th floor matches existing brickwork and architectural details of the floors below including a cornice detail around the top of the new 4th floor which links the new and old elements. This helps minimise the impact of the extension and maintain the existing proportions of the street facade. It also serves to provide more privacy for the bedrooms.

In addition, Bryden Wood carried out the fit out design and façade restoration works of the commercial floors below.

Being directly adjacent to the Great Western train lines into Paddington Station meant that the design considered issues such as glare, acoustics and disruption to services during construction.

This project was completed in October 2014.
