This project is a showroom for Pompanoosuc Furniture in the Tribeca
Historic District, a prominent location for a prominent client. The
showroom occupies the entire ground floor and the tenant portion of the
cellar of a newly constructed building. In order to access both
floors, we removed a portion of the ground floor and installed an open
stair. The stair acts as a fulcrum between the two levels of the open
showroom plan, allowing visitors to easily understand the space and
allowing a more harmonious connection with the showroom items. We
obtained a Certificate of No Effect from the Landmarks Preservation
Commission. This was required for the slight modifications we would
make to the storefront, which included new entrance doors and new
louvers for HVAC equipment. In addition, we worked with the client’s
interior decorator to provide harmonious interior finishes throughout
the project.
