At the region level, Polyclinique Saint-Roch is the first private maternity hospital and the first ophthalmology surgery center. Its orthopedy center is the most important in Montpellier, and the enlargement of other activities, like emergency, stomatology, dermatology, cosmetic–breast-gynecological surgeries, is also significant.
In 2016, the relocation in the eco-district “ZAC des Grisettes” answered to the need of improvement for a better located and organized site, offering a range of care opened to the southwest urban expansion.
The architectural set, Consultations-Hospitalization-Operating Room, becomes a link between the urban landscape (ZAC) and the natural landscape.
The H shape central building offers breaths that broadcast natural light into the clinic's premises. This layout makes it possible to disconnect from the front-end access on Pavelet Avenue and its dense traffic, and to reduce noise pollution in hospital rooms.
The specific functions are reflected in its architecture: medical offices in the north (6 storeys building), reception and hospitalization in the center (4 storeys building), operating rooms and technical premises in the South (3 storeys building).
Logistic area and car parks are located into two basement levels, main part of them being accessible from Avenue Pavelet, through the land level.
Strong signal of the site in the district, the consultations building totem wall flares on the main entrance.
The colorful facades with multiple material effects participate in the identification of the building: the red metal cassettes and the perforated white pixel style ones, raw concrete wall flowered stamped, azure blue polycarbonate 800m² screen, reflecting the avenue night lights in a graphic and poetic style.
The project recently warned the highest-level certification, issued by the Haute Autorité de la Santé. The selection main criteria are quality and care safety, infectious risk control, care quality, patient rights respect and relevance of architectural choices.
