Built above a subway station, the project exemplifies an ideal TOD community inspired by the local coastal and mountainous landscapes. It integrates a park with sports and market commerce. The site's elevation differences are utilized to create diverse spaces and homecoming routes. Using wooden structures and glass, the building inherits traditional double-slope overhanging gable roof, optimizing load bearing capacity while preserving cultural heritage. Incorporating traditional architectural culture, the project aims to promote a park-style commercial model and sustainable urban development.
The architectural form features a staggered double-slope overhanging gable roof, abstracting geometric lines from the local rolling mountain landscape while innovatively honoring traditional Chinese wooden structures.
The demonstration area includes a sales center (a future commercial area) and a homecoming lobby for future community residents, unified by a wooden frame and connected by platforms at different elevations, ensuring a smooth spatial transition. Additionally, a garage above the subway station provides convenient parking for visitors and future residents. The gentle 5% slope above the underground garage resolves the elevation difference, enhancing the site's diversity and interest. As Qingdao's first TOD living community, the subway's convenience offers multiple homecoming routes. This design enhances residents' travel convenience and reduces their reliance on private transport to minimize energy consumption and carbon emissions.
The building materials include pure glass curtain walls and warm spruce wood framework, combined with timber show windows. The wooden structure exudes warmth, while the glass curtain wall adds a modern and transparent touch. The triangular-patterned ceiling structure gives a new interpretation of the traditional sloped roof, offering visual richness and structural stability. The claw-shaped structural column caps further optimize the wooden structure's load bearing performance.
