Pidgin Perfect were appointed by GHA and Glasgow City Council to engage and consult the local community of Pollokshaws and commissioned to support WAVE in the production for proposals for artworks for the Pollokshaws area.
The site of focus was an area of slack space adjacent to The Vennel (Kirk Lane Cemetery) which was to be transformed into a new distinct public realm with integrated artworks, reconditioning the site and bringing it back to life through consultation and collaborative design with the local community.
Pidgin Perfect led on engagement and consultation with the local community and other key stakeholders to help draw out material from the community that would shape and inform future works. Pidgin Perfect spoke with the local community to learn more about the rich history, heritage and culture of Pollokshaws as well as developing and delivering a series of exciting workshops and events that included school workshops introducing stone carving and creative writing, investigative mapping exercises and community exhibitions.
