This coastal garden sits on the water front of Port Phillip Bay and surrounds the strong, masculine form of the new Planned Living Architects home. With a unique aspect, creative solutions were required. The front yard is home to a large open lawn area for grand children to free play with large boulders to use to their imaginations desire. The entry light well garden features Dicksonia ferns with underground platings of dwarf maidenhair ferns and Ligularias.
Meandering gravel pathways with highlight bandings of limestone create casual pathways throughout the garden and low coastal planting palettes flood the eye with foliage, textural and form contrast all with an underlying tone of grey hues. The rear entertaining space features a Melbourne firebrick Co pizza oven, fire pit and curved concrete bench seat integrated into the rear deck as the perfect back rest.
This rear garden space is compact with surrounding canopy trees creating an intimate, private area that is highly used and has become the heart and soul of the home and garden. The continued subtle coastal planting palette surrounds the rear yard garden creating the perfect evening relaxation and entertaining zone.
