Year of tender: 2007
Wroclaw suffered from lack of the hotels and especially is missing the luxury, 5 star hotels. The idea of Municipality was to enter the exclusive league of large metropolis and as we all know the 5 star hotel is essential for the city prestige.
Due that the City of Wroclaw announced the tender for purchase the site located in the very center of the city between Main Post Office and galleria Dominikanska Shopping Mall. The site has been prepared by the city specially for this use and the WZiZT decision has been issued before the tender. Tender condition was to develop hotel in 5 star standard as précised in proper Minister Decree.
The idea was to get not only the hotel functionality but develop the building on highest architectural level, modern solution and in contemporary form which will allow to interpret the building as the well known and characteristic place in Wroclaw.
The site itself was difficult both in shape and in terms of historic heritage. The property was located in the area of conservatory protection and on the area of former military cemetery which required strict cooperation with Heritage Superintendent Office. The connection to public roads and solving circulation around the planned development was a challenge as well. We proposed modern and simple form having in mind not only architectural shape of the building but also its commercial functionality and regulations and good practices regarding design of 5 star hotels.
