Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism of Montenegro announced an International Competition for the conceptual architectural design of the building of the general hospital in Pljevlja.
The subject of the competition is the creation of a conceptual architectural solution for the building of the general hospital in Pljevlja. The area covered by the tender is 15,390.00 m².
The participants are expected to offer a solution that will be characterized by high functionality of the building and uniqueness in architectural design, in order to create spatial conditions for rationalization and increasing the efficiency of the work of the general hospital in Pljevlja.
The cone-shaped terrain is adjacent to a mountainous area of Montenegro. There is a considerable amount of trees that must be preserved.
Instead of designing a massive building made up of 4 facades, we opted to divide the building into 5 elements, thus creating 12 facades.
This allows us to illuminate spaces more efficiently, since they are naturally illuminated most of the day. In the same way the five elements are oriented towards the north.
The shape of the building resembles a traditional home. This with the intention of lowering the scale of a monumental building and in a certain way conveying a feeling of warmth to the patients and visitors.
One of the restrictions of the project was the number of levels (basement, ground floor and two floors). Taking advantage of the slopes of the land, we divided the project into two towers (A and B). Tower B is made up of 3 pieces and starts at level +797. Tower A is made up of 2 pieces and starts at level +801.50.
