As first year design students we were given the task of
designing a memorial to be placed on a historic site in New Orleans,
Louisiana. This project was created to reflect on the social injustices that
occurred during the Plessey vs. Ferguson trial. Our building site was the site
in which this incident occurred. I attempted to convey the contrast in social
norms from past to present through the creation of a space which the
inhabitants experience is defined by the path they choose through the memorial.
