How TARQ Studio Is Redefining the Latin American Market — and Why It Matters Today
I’m sharing, through the link below, a project for your review: final text (Spanish and English), complete project information, architectural floor plans, and high-resolution photography.
Plaza Luna Vallenata documents the first public building by TARQ Studio in Valledupar. Founded by architect Eduardo Torrente, the studio has primarily worked in residential and interior projects; this building marks its entry into the public realm with a clear position on long-term sustainability and responsibility within Latin American contexts.
More than a market, the project rethinks the typology through climate and social use. In a city where temperatures exceed 35°C (95°F), the building eliminates mechanical air conditioning and relies instead on passive ventilation, permeable façades, and a large roof structure that regulates light and temperature. A covered central plaza for events and a second level with local kitchens extend its role beyond commerce, positioning it as new civic infrastructure for the neighborhood.
