Design Concept
Playtech's Kiev office is located in the new contemporary business centre with a panoramic view along the entire perimeter of the building.
The starting point was to design complex floor plan with numerous work areas, relax and social zones. It needed to maximise the use of daylight and open the stunning 22nd floors panoramic view. This was a challenge due to the extremely poor planning of the building central core. Because it changed function in mid-construction from an apartment high-rise to an office center, all the elevator shafts, stairs and engineering channels were designed according to residential guidelines. To make matters worse, they were all cast in concrete, so there was nothing to be done with them. This basically split the floor plan into three separate parts with only a cramped hallway connecting them.
Yet despite all that we decided to preserve the architectural image and make transparency and openness its main feature . Almost all existing brick wells were demolished to bring light into the hallway. We placed the reception, relaxation and activity into the bright central area, and all the spread working zones around the perimeter, to give each workplace a panoramic view. In both side wings, a hallway, parallel to the old one was made to provide circulation and remove dead ends. Coffee points and other public amenities were placed in between the two hallways to bring life into the central core.
Existing concrete structures and white coloured walls became the background material. Glass structures with semi-transparent pattern and colour accents completed the overall perception. The view became visible from most parts of the office, the plan fits in a lot of work stations and leisure areas without overcrowding the internal air.
Project Feature
In this project we paid particular attention to the public areas: reception, coffee points, relaxation and activity.
The main element of the activity area become the GAME BOX. It's made of perforated MDF with inner surfaces of black tempered glass. Screens for games are installed behind the glass. A LED profile runs along the perimeter that reflects on the glass surfaces and creates an unusual virtual atmosphere. All features connect at an accurate 45 degrees to make the complex technological interactions work.
The reception is made of rusted metal with a perforated gradient pattern. Lighting, hidden behind the perforation projects it’s pattern onto the floor, the shape of which is similar to cutting on the GAME BOX facades and includes the Playtech logo detail. We paid attention to graphic navigation so it lets the company employees understand the floor layouts and ease the use of public areas and subjects.
To maximise the room height we left the concrete ceiling slabs open with visible engineering structures. The double glass walls between the offices makes a comfortable acoustic atmosphere. The use of LED lights helped to keep healthy energy consumption levels.
These solutions made the interior incredibly bright, and transparent and yet cosy at the same time.

The office has numerous public zones for people to communicate and to encourage the team's social life. There are a couple meet up and coffee points, large open activity areas and quiet rooms. There is a giant game box in the middle of the floor where employees could play and test the company's new products, communicate with each other and relax.
