Located on the beachfront in Playa del Rey, this 2,500 square foot loft embodies the unique vision of clients who split their time between the beaches of LA and the rural landscapes of Montana. Inspired by the concept of "Montana at the Beach," the design merges the cozy charm of a mountain cabin with the relaxed vibe of a beach house, creating a one-of-a-kind living space that celebrates natural materials and breathtaking coastal views.
The design philosophy revolves around showcasing the inherent beauty of natural elements. Instead of paint or wallpaper, the design team opted to highlight textures and hues that already occur in nature. The dramatic veining and vibrant colors of natural stones create visual impact, while softer woods offer a warm and inviting contrast against the backdrop of bright beach views. Nature takes center stage, creating a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor environments.
The heart of the loft is the double-height living space, with the primary suite overlooking the area below. Living spaces are thoughtfully arranged. Wine storage is tucked in underneath the stair, while a custom bar built with live edge walnut takes center stage. The curved bar is perfect for enjoying a cocktail while soaking in the spectacular sunset views.
The design concept extends into the private areas of the loft, with the primary bathroom clad in a striking blue macaubas marble, selected for its resemblance to the ocean. The shower leads out to a private deck enclosed with custom teak fencing and green walls, providing a tranquil outdoor retreat that complements the natural beauty of its surroundings.
