The inspiration for the ring-shaped QTone Kindergarten comes from the childhood game of holding hands around a circle. CLOU hopes that the layout’s circulation can indeed encourage learning and studying within the student community.
The 11,300 sqm three storey ‘ring’ is accented by cutting or inserting additional shapes into the space. The first storey of the ring was divided so that the ‘void’ spaces can be landscaped public plazas. The second and third storeys are mostly continuous, but wedge-shaped cuts form balconies at four positions along the ring. Finally, a cube shape housing offices and activity centres is inserted at the entrance of the building highlighting this point.
