The proposal of designing a transportation terminal near the Hudson yards development was an interesting and challenging proposition, The site located within the heart of the Hudson river is becoming the next place to be in NY, with multiple developments coming underway, the influx of residents, tourists and New Yorkers coming to this location makes sense to design a transportation terminal. However, just a transportation terminal seems like a waste of space and opportunity. Therefore, the implementation of a hybrid program becomes crucial.
The idea of bringing back the infrastructure into the city may seem counter productive at first however, the notion of creating a space that allows people to respond to such anomalies and how people react to such things is interesting. The way the desalination plant is created is that it becomes an infrastructure that is well known by the people of NY, they are aware of the process by which the water is produced and therefore over time and with daily contact with the plant through the terminal space the project becomes normal to people, part of their everyday.
