“I want it to be a small Mexican corner on Venetian fields”.
This was the incipit of Placco House project that is a renovation of priviate residence interiors, which also addressed for a complete re-style either in function and setting.
Placed on the countryside of Padova (IT) it is surrounded by open crop fields which historically define the motive of this building: there are 3 main elements composing the entire structure, which recall the typical shape of past rural buildings of this area: the manor, the porch, and the dovecot, each of which has been re-design to fit client’s desires and expectations:
While colours and forniture recall Mexican motives, materials and master plan have been carefully selected and designed to fit the strict Italian buildings code.
Ground floors are made out of polished concrete dyed with black pigments, while the upper level presents spruce wooden floorboards.
There is just one stair that works as junction between the living area and the first floor where bedrooms, restrooms and more private areas are placed.
A wide windowed porch lays as connection between the manor and the dovecot that houses the guest area, forming a semi-independent two level structure.
Manor, the porch, and dovecot arrangement forms a court presenting a typical barnyard, covered in concreate and masonry (to recall the structural materials the house is made of) which collects rain water and channels it into a artificial basin, placed at the border of the garden, that is “room” by its own and it is functional to the building itself.
Wastes natural depuration, climate and building temperature control, vegetables production and beneficial relaxing effects are some of the numerous functions this garden present, where the tropical atmosphere is granted through some exotic plants used to recall Mexican influence.
