An urban picnic
The main concept explored in the project investigates the typical elements present in the common memory associated to the idea of the Italian Family, inserting it in a playful and interactive context. The movement of the chairs, through sliding rails, are an incentive for many social options along the big table, shared between people known and unknown. The main floor with the large family style table has been lowered, stimulating the feeling to be in a protected environment; the rubber tablecloth made by squared covers, provides an unique layer. The seats and the table on the main space creates the sensation of an intimate and familiar sub-space. The wall space above the bar illuminated with magnetic moveable lights creates a free slate for customized lighting expression.
