This project received an Honorable Award in a International Architecture Competition for a Business Center in Piura, Peru. Piura is
the intersection point of different ecosystems and, as such, is also a showcase
of several natural processes. This office building intends to bring all this
diversity inside, working more as an organic entity than as a static space.
Innovative
form and elegant spatial proposal combine to rend this building as a landmark
for the city of Piura. Intrinsic to these concepts, the eco-efficient design is
expressed by the use of renewable materials, optimal solar orientation, re-use
of rainfall, natural ventilation, and energy saving solutions such as the use
of maximized natural illumination. It stands as a statement for a developing
area, establishing a new and iconic building in its skyline.
The typical
floor is composed by four units that can be integrated for larger office
spaces; each unit contains a detached room with an elevated ceiling that allows
wide and beautiful views of the river. These rooms can be used as offices for
higher management or as conference rooms.

Each
floor’s slab is divided in two separate areas, with a height difference of half
a level. The rooms with higher ceilings are located between these areas, and
when units in different levels are united, the connection can be made through
these areas.
This
solution allows the union of more than four units, and gives the building a
much higher organizational flexibility. If companies can be seen as organic
entities that eventually expand or shrink in size, a proper office building
would be one that allows office space to expand flexibly, indefinitely, and in
various directions.
