An apartment located on the third floor of a royal estate, in the Gracia neighborhood of Barcelona, is the starting point for this commission. It has a very fragmented distribution and few well-preserved elements that allow it to be refurbished.
The owner requests a functional program with open space in a kitchen-dining-living room, one bathroom and two bedrooms. The proposal reconfigures the total distribution, rotating the position of the day area with that of the night to gain views of the street, better natural lighting, and surface optimization in the space. A compact bathroom with glazed enclosure and multipurpose area is projected in the central area of the house and a closed distribution based on fixed furniture in the night area with views of the block patio.
The white-painted bareness of the original construction elements contrasts with the rest of the smooth walls, false ceilings, and fixed neutral furniture, while the flooring and the unique oak wood furniture adds warmth to the spaces.
