Pirurvik means ‘a place of growth’ in Inuktitut. This organization was started in 2003 with the vision to teach and to maintain Inuktitut language and culture throughout Nunavut and across the arctic. The education programs serve areas on the ground throughout Nunavut as far as Cambridge Bay, and via the web across the globe.
The new Centre building contains all of the educational programs including practical workshop spaces. In addition to this, it is supported by staff housing and rentable rooms. It becomes a community gathering space focused on bridging the gaps between global culture and the vibrant traditions of diverse Inuk culture.
