“Pipe chair” / Even PVC pipes want to be something
Pipe Chair is inspired from a great architect Louis Kahn quote : “Even a brick wants to be something” . With Nowadays technology, 3D digital fabrication techniques that can be access in many parts of the world, we can be allowed to use that technology and pick any simple materials that we can find from any construction store nearby to making something to be something.
We pick simple PVC pipes that normally used for water pipe system. We used 3D digital fabrication techniques to 3D cut all curvy shape and assembly them with steel screw rods and nuts. Curvy shape cuts are designed in order to reduce self-chair weight, to created comfortable shape to seat, to transfer load of seating, to let a good ventilation flow and definitely to create beautiful form and color appeal. Pipe chair can be a good example for any simple materials with 3D digital fabrication techniques to be a good design.
