In downtown Montreal, a major office fit-out transforms several existing floors into a collaborative, hybrid work environment. Spread across three levels, the project rethinks areas previously organized as rows of enclosed offices and cubicles, adapting them to new ways of working that combine in-person and remote collaboration.
The floors are largely opened up to create generous, light-filled spaces crossed by views toward the downtown skyline, Old Montreal, the port and the river. A sequence of meeting rooms, flexible collaboration spaces, individual enclaves, focus areas and informal living zones with kitchenettes is woven between these open work areas, offering a calm but clearly legible gradient of uses.
Color is used in clear, saturated fields—warm yellows, reds and oranges—to mark collaborative rooms, transition zones and shared amenities, while the primary workspaces remain more neutral and bright. This controlled palette supports orientation, underlines moments of encounter and underscores the contrast between active and quiet areas.
The layout prioritizes versatility and flexibility. Workstations are designed to be shared as needed, and furniture, selected and coordinated with the architectural concept, allows for a smooth shift between collaborative sessions and individual production work. An integrated signage strategy helps structure circulation routes while quietly emphasizing the spatial rhythms of the project.
Delivered in an occupied environment and phased over several construction sequences, the project was carried out in a way that minimized disruption for users and maintained continuous operations. Certified LEED v4.1 ID+C, it combines environmental performance, air quality, comfort and durable materials, while offering a contemporary, welcoming work setting that is prepared to evolve with future professional practices.
