My favorite Californian Bungalow feature? The pillars that hold up the front veranda for sure. Sometimes ornate & twisted, in this instance, angular elongated pyramids with lopped off tops. We used this geometry as inspiration for the roof at the back. Largely an extruded rectangle with two sculpted peak roofs forms to create internal vaulted ceilings topped by skylights.
Skylights flood the rooms with natural light and happiness. Hints of peach, yellow and black delight the eye in an otherwise white space embellished with hints of feature timber. Modest lovability & delight.
