Gdynia is a city of avant-garde, courage and the conviction that everything is possible. Built at the meeting point of land and sea, it has been a symbol of the magnificence of interwar engineers, urban planners and architects since its foundation. Kościuszko Square together with the pier of the Southern Pier is one of the examples of the momentum and forward thinking of Gdynia's builders. However, today's challenges faced by planners, city managers and designers are completely different than a hundred years ago. Therefore, we proposed an avant-garde assumption for the modern times.
In the competition project the team set themselves the task of creating a model multifunctional urban space showing how to address contemporary issues in harmony with the historical heritage. The competition project contains solutions that through holistic thinking about the needs of citizens also relate to the functioning of the cities of the future.
