The Phu Piman House was commissioned by a Thai client who wanted to build a gathering place for his family in the quiet mountains North-West of Bangkok.
The concept of the 400m2 house is based on a spatial journey along a succession of walls, which visually overlap and offer space for exhibiting the clients’ art collection. The three volumes that follow the natural slope of the plot offer an understanding of this natural place from the inside.
The exterior appearance of three distinct volumes oriented according different views are contrasting with the continuous spatial relationship of the inside which is slowly unfold by connecting spaces are slid in-between the volumes.
The idea of in-between spaces is as well present in the way how six different semi-exterior spaces (glass-house, loggia, semi-covered terrace, open-air terrace, open-angle kitchen, sky bathroom) were integrated behind the pure envelope of the volumes and expand the choice of climatic conditions within the house’s own boundaries.
